Winemaker’s impressions

The Ghiomo winery, where Giuseppino Anfossi prefers to be called a "farmer," emphasizes producing high-quality wines that respect the land and reflect the characteristics of each vintage. His 2021 Sansteu has received high praise, with some calling it potentially his best work to date.

Aromas

The wine is noted for being fragrant and opening up on the nose "like a twister," offering scents of red cherry, mixed forest berries, freshly picked flowers and blossoms, melded with notes of tarry and herbal infusions.

Structure and Taste

According to Anfossi's descriptions and related reviews, it is a full-bodied and well-structured wine with a distinct salty minerality. It is characterized by its clean, crunchy fruit and "agile muscles". The tannins are firm but well-placed within the fruity substance, leading to a very intense, round, and persuasive aftertaste.

Aging Potential

Despite being a youngster today, the wine is seen as having outstanding aging potential, with some expert tasters suggesting it should be treated like a Barolo in terms of cellaring. The wine is described as a clear proof of the beauty a Nebbiolo d'Alba can reach.
